GOOD DESIGN SELECT

background

Established in 1957, the G-Mark Design Award is one of the four major global design awards, often referred to as the "Oscar of Design." GOOD DESIGN SELECT, driven by curator Shi Xiaoxi, is an important event promoting Sino-Japanese design exchange, officially authorized by G-Mark. This exhibition selects representative designs from China that won the G-Mark Award in 2023 (MEIZU 20 INFINITY). Through the exhibition's "Why is this Good Design" approach, audiences in China can closely experience how award-winning Chinese designs are born from various perspectives such as concepts, culture, materials, engineering, craftsmanship, form, process, color, production, and brand vision, thereby promoting the popularization of design.

Despite achieving significant international success in various professional fields such as smartphones, drones, and e-commerce, Chinese design still lacks widespread recognition and understanding among the general public compared to advanced countries in Europe, America, and Japan. True democratization of design can only bring about the transformation from "Made in China" to "Designed in China." The exhibition provides an opportunity to bring design from the professional realm to the public, allowing the general public to fully understand design from multiple dimensions such as aesthetics, commerce, culture, and technology. The core concept of GOOD DESIGN SELECT is to bring design from the professional field to the public and make China a truly great design nation.

In 2016, as a designer, Shi Xiaoxi won the highest honor, Best100, at the G-Mark Design Award and completed the grand slam of global design awards. Due to Shi Xiaoxi's influence and professional achievements in the design field, he was officially invited by G-Mark to serve as a jury.
